I&#8217;ve just completely rebuilt a brand new one on a different staging URL. How can I switch it over as the new production website?<\/p>\n<h2>Answer<\/h2>\n<p>Since it&#8217;s a brand new rebuild and you have it separated anyways inside Staq, below are the steps to consider before taking the website live.<\/p>\n<h3>301 Redirects<\/h3>\n<p>Are you using the <strong>Redirects<\/strong> function inside the Staq interface (Staq Panel, under Domains, click Redirects) or are you using a WordPress plugin to handle this? If so, make sure you&#8217;ve brought across all the data.<\/p>\n<h3>WP Config File settings<\/h3>\n<p>Under <strong>Advanced<\/strong> inside the Staq Panel of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">production<\/span> website, do you have any custom settings inside the <strong>WP Config File<\/strong> that you need to bring across to the staging site before it goes live?<\/p>\n<h3>PHP Runtime Config settings<\/h3>\n<p>Under <strong>Advanced<\/strong> inside the Staq Panel of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">production<\/span> website, do you have any custom settings inside the <strong>PHP Runtime Config<\/strong> that you need to bring across to the staging site before it goes live?<\/p>\n<h3>Cron Manager settings<\/h3>\n<p>Under <strong>Advanced<\/strong> inside the Staq Panel of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">production<\/span> website, do you have any custom settings inside the <strong>Cron Manager<\/strong> that you need to bring across to the staging site before it goes live?<\/p>\n<h3>Nginx Config settings<\/h3>\n<p>Under <strong>Advanced<\/strong> inside the Staq Panel of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">production<\/span> website, do you have any custom settings inside the <strong>Nginx Config<\/strong> that you need to bring across to the staging site before it goes live?<\/p>\n<h3>Firewall settings<\/h3>\n<p>Inside the WordPress backend of the production website, under <strong>Staq Hosting\u00a0<\/strong>plugin &gt;\u00a0<strong>Firewall<\/strong>, do you have any custom settings that you need to bring across?<\/p>\n<h3>Website Users<\/h3>\n<p>Under the production website inside Staq Panel, do you have Third Party assigned users to the site that you need to extend access to once you switch over to the other site?<\/p>\n<h3>Disable CDN<\/h3>\n<p>Before switching and changing the DNS, disable the CDN (Next-Gen CDN, Traditional CDN or Cloudflare) by going into your Staq Panel and under Domains, click <strong>CDN<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>DNS Switch<\/h3>\n<p>Since this is the second last step, go into\u00a0<strong>DNS Zone<\/strong> inside your Staq Panel for the production website. Click\u00a0<strong>Unassign Website<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-28538\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/unassign-website-1024x198.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"198\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then, go to the staging site&#8217;s Staq Panel and click DNS Zone.<\/p>\n<p>Click\u00a0<strong>Assign DNS Zone<\/strong> and find the domain URL inside the list. Click\u00a0<strong>Assign<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Go Live<\/h3>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve completed all your steps, under Domains, click\u00a0<strong>Go Live<\/strong> and this staging site will become the new production website.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure you re-enable the CDN again.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Consider the following steps below:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Assigning site in Staq Billing<\/h3>\n<p>If you have Staq Billing enabled, go to the main menu and click <strong>Clients<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Assigned Plans<\/strong> then click <strong>+Assign Plan<\/strong> to change over the website to your client\/customer so that they are charged fees.<\/p>\n<h3>Do you need to keep the old site?<\/h3>\n<p>If yes, follow the steps below. Otherwise, you can delete the old site. All billing (both your agency and your client) will automatically cease upon deletion.<\/p>\n<h3>The old production site<\/h3>\n<p>Go to the old production website and then\u00a0<strong>Domains<\/strong> inside Staq Panel.
