Simply install the Staq migration plugin, follow the prompts, and in no time, your migrated site will appear as a staging\/development site on Staq ready for you to review and take live.<\/p>\n<h2>Preparation<\/h2>\n<h3>Download Plugin<\/h3>\n<p>In your Staq account, go to\u00a0<strong>Websites\u00a0<\/strong>&gt;\u00a0<strong>Create Site\u00a0<\/strong>&gt;\u00a0<strong>Migrate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Download the Staq Migrator Plugin as per the screenshot below:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3033\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/install-staq-migrator-1024x940.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"940\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Install Plugin<\/h3>\n<p>Log into the website that you wish to migrate.<\/p>\n<p>Click\u00a0<strong>Plugins<\/strong>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<strong>Upload Plugin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3034\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/upload-plugin-1024x752.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"752\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If that fails because the website does not allow you to upload a plugin, search for\u00a0<strong>File Manager<\/strong>\u00a0as a plugin and click\u00a0<strong>Install Now<\/strong>. If that works, activate the plugin and upload the Staq Migrator zip file to the\u00a0<strong>wp-content\/plugins<\/strong>\u00a0directory.<\/p>\n<p>Then, extract the zip file by right-clicking the file.<\/p>\n<p>Go back to Plugins and activate the<strong>\u00a0Staq Migrator<\/strong>\u00a0plugin.<\/p>\n<h3>Disable Security Plugins<\/h3>\n<p>Inside the Plugins page, disable all security plugins that may interfere with the backup and transfer phase to Staq. Popular plugins include, but are not limited, to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wordfence<\/li>\n<li>Jetpack<\/li>\n<li>All In One WP Security &amp; Firewall<\/li>\n<li>Security &amp; Malware scan by CleanTalk<\/li>\n<li>iThemes Security<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once this process is completed, it&#8217;s time to transfer.<\/p>\n<h3>Commence Migration<\/h3>\n<p>Go back to the\u00a0<strong>Migrate Website<\/strong>\u00a0page on Staq (the same page where you downloaded the migration plugin) and under\u00a0<strong>Security Token<\/strong>, copy the token code:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3035\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/migrate-website-token-code-1024x929.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"929\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then, back on the WordPress website click\u00a0<strong>Staq Migrator<\/strong> on the left-hand side paste the token code and click <strong>Validate Token<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3036\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/token-inside-staq-migrator-1024x642.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"642\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the token has been validated, a new box will show where you can enter an email address. This will alert you once the backup has been completed. Click <strong>Export\u00a0<\/strong>to commence:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3038\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/enter-email-export-1024x648.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"648\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The process should look like this:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3039\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/migration-process-1024x361.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"361\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the process has been completed, there are 2 ways to retrieve the output code. Either, go back to the WordPress website and click <strong>Copy Code.\u00a0<\/strong>You&#8217;ll paste the code inside the Staq interface.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3041\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/WP-screen-code-1024x339.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"339\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Or, if you&#8217;ve elected to receive an email once the backup has been completed, you should receive an email something like this. Copy the code and go back to the Staq interface:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3042\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/email-code.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"861\" height=\"732\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the same screen as where you originally had to get the Token code, copy the code from either the WordPress website or the email and paste it under the\u00a0<strong>Exported Data\u00a0<\/strong>section as per the screenshot below:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3044\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/export-data-code-1024x580.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"580\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click\u00a0<strong>Next<\/strong>. Follow the prompts in the next section below.<\/p>\n<h2>Setup<\/h2>\n<h3>Commence Migration<\/h3>\n<p>After completing all the steps above, it&#8217;s now time to set an internal ID name of the website inside your Staq account. We recommend that you put the business name as the Staq ID name:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3046\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/staq-ID-1024x749.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"749\" \/><\/p>\n<p>OPTIONAL: if you manage multiple websites i.e. a developer or agency, below, you&#8217;ll see the agency plans that you&#8217;ve set up (if you&#8217;ve already done this). You&#8217;ll then assign a plan to them.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, this section will be blank if it hasn&#8217;t been set up.<\/p>\n<p>Click\u00a0<strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>OPTIONAL: You can create a customer which will then assign the website plan in the previous screen to a customer.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, click\u00a0<strong>Deploy<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3047\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Deploy-site-1024x548.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"548\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After a moment, the page should redirect to the website table. From there, you can search for your ID name to see the status of it by hovering over the State column:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3048\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/status-migration-1024x481.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"481\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once it is done, the Status should say\u00a0<strong>Available<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>You can click the 1-click login built inside Staq to access the backend of the site:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-36004\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/1-click-WP-Access.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/1-click-WP-Access.png 640w, https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/1-click-WP-Access-300x148.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Testing post-migration<\/h3>\n<p>Once the migration has been completed, please ensure that you&#8217;ve tested your website to ensure that everything works correctly before taking the website live.<\/p>\n<h2>Optimization<\/h2>\n<h3>Enable Staq Cache<\/h3>\n<p>To ensure your website loads as fast as possible, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">disable all performance and optimization-based<\/span>\u00a0plugins such as WP Rocket, Fastest Cache, and Autoptimize from the Plugins section of WordPress inside your recently migrated website.<\/p>\n<p>Then, on the left side, you should see\u00a0<strong>Staq Hosting<\/strong>. Click on that and\u00a0<strong>Enable cache for website<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3051\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/enable-cache-1024x410.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"410\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Core Web Vitals Optimisation<\/h3>\n<p>To get the most of your website, including, improving your Google Core Web Vitals score, you can follow the Staq guide on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/core-vitals-academy\">how to improve your Google Core Web Vitals score<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Taking website live<\/h2>\n<h3>Go Live<\/h3>\n<p>Once you&#8217;re ready to take the website live and wish to use Staq DNS, go to Staq Panel and click\u00a0<strong>DNS Zone<\/strong> under Domains. Once DNS is set up, you&#8217;re ready to take the website live.<\/p>\n<p>Under Staq Panel, click\u00a0<strong>GO LIVE<\/strong>\u00a0under Domains. From there, follow the stepper prompts and you&#8217;ll have the website live within a minute or two.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>FAQ&#8217;s<\/h2>\n<p><strong>How can I manage many concurrent migrations at any given time?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Export Token isn&#8217;t unique for each website but rather it&#8217;s linked and unique to your account. That means you can migrate many sites simultaneously. This is how you can migrate simultaneously:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>If you have say 5 migrations to do, open 5x tabs of this page: <a href=\"https:\/\/app.wpstaq.com\/website\/migrate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">https:\/\/app.wpstaq.com\/website\/migrate<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The Export Token is not unique to each website so you can use the same Token on all 5 sites when you install the Staq Migrator plugin.<\/li>\n<li>Once the migration has completed, copy the code to the Import Token. <strong>Please note that the Import Token is unique so please be careful to apply the correct Import Token to the correct app name to correspond to the correct website.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Each migration that you do, it will automatically redirect to the Staq Panel of that site and you can track the progress.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Is the Staq Migrator a one-way migration plugin?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes, it&#8217;s only to migrate a website into Staq and not the other way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When I migrate a site, does it go into a development environment by default?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes, a migrated site goes into development environment or dev mode by default. It&#8217;s protected by no-follow for SEO and search engine purposes. It&#8217;s also free up to 90 days and you only pay once you take it live or once 90 days is over; whatever comes first!
