{"id":29908,"date":"2022-01-08T10:50:56","date_gmt":"2022-01-08T10:50:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/knowledgebase\/force-deactivation-of-plugin-theme\/"},"modified":"2024-07-03T05:20:44","modified_gmt":"2024-07-03T05:20:44","slug":"force-deactivation-of-plugin-theme","status":"publish","type":"knowledgebase","link":"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/nz\/knowledgebase\/force-deactivation-of-plugin-theme\/","title":{"rendered":"Force deactivation of plugin\/theme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are two ways to forcefully deactivate plugin\/s or the main theme.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Option 1<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This is the quickest solution to forcefully deactivate a plugin if you know which plugin is causing a PHP error or the &#8220;white screen of death&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Under the Staq interface, go to the website&#8217;s Staq Panel, then click either Plugins or Themes:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3196\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/plugins-theme-1024x349.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"349\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then, under the column, <strong>Management<\/strong>, if the plugin\/theme is listed as <strong>Website<\/strong>, then click the dropdown menu and click <strong>Force Deactivation<\/strong> as per the screenshot below.<\/p>\n<p>If the plugin\/theme is listed as <strong>Global<\/strong>, then click <strong>Force Deactivation<\/strong> as per the screenshot below.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3195\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/force-deactivation-1024x254.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"254\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Option 2<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you prefer to have great control, under the website&#8217;s Staq Panel, click\u00a0<strong>Secure FTP<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3197\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/secure-FTP-1024x354.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"354\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then, click the button,\u00a0<strong>Retrieve Connection Details<\/strong> to reveal the server details. From there, you can use something like\u00a0<strong>FileZilla<\/strong> to access the server.<\/p>\n<p>As you set up a Site Manager in FileZilla, select the protocol as <strong>SFTP &#8211; SSH File Transfer Protocol<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Then, copy and paste the details in the corresponding fields inside FileZilla.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3198\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/select-sFTP-1024x754.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"754\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve successfully logged in, access either plugins or themes by the following pathway:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Plugins: <\/strong>wordpress\/wp-content\/plugins<\/li>\n<li><strong>Themes: <\/strong>wordpress\/wp-content\/themes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Then, right-click the plugins or theme folder and click <strong>Rename<\/strong>.
