Add a client, then send them a secure link to enter their billing details and card. Clients never log in to Staq. They only use that link. Set up Staq Billing<\/a> and connect Stripe first. The card is held by Stripe. Staq only keeps the last 4 digits and the expiry date.<\/p>\n

Add a client<\/h2>\n

  1. In the sidebar, click Clients<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. On the Billing<\/strong> tab, click Add Client<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Enter their details<\/h2>\n
      \n
    1. Enter a Display name<\/strong> of at least 5 characters, and their Email<\/strong>. The client can fill in the rest during profile setup.<\/li>\n
    2. Keep Send profile setup email<\/strong> checked to email them the link now. Uncheck it to send the link yourself later.<\/li>\n
    3. Click Add Client<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Send the link yourself<\/h2>\n

      1. Open the row’s actions menu.<\/li>\n
      2. Click Copy Profile Setup Link<\/strong> and paste it into your own email. The message that appears shows how long the link stays valid.<\/li>\n
      3. Or click Send Profile Setup Email<\/strong> to have Staq send it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Check their progress<\/h2>\n

        The Profile setup<\/strong> column shows where each client is. Use the chips above the table to filter by status.<\/p>\n

        1. Not invited<\/strong>: no email has been sent yet.<\/li>\n
        2. Unread<\/strong>: the email was sent, and they have not opened the link.<\/li>\n
        3. In progress<\/strong>: they opened the link and have not finished.<\/li>\n
        4. Completed<\/strong>: they have added a card.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          The client is not charged yet. Assign them a plan<\/a> to start billing.<\/p>\n

          FAQ<\/h2>\n

          Can I change what the email says?<\/h3>\n

          Yes. Edit it under Clients<\/strong>, Billing<\/strong>, Email Templates<\/strong>. See customizing automated emails<\/a>.<\/p>\n

          Why is Send profile setup email grayed out?<\/h3>\n

          Stripe is not connected. You can still add the client and copy a link, but they cannot add a card until Stripe is connected.<\/p>\n

          How do I update a client’s card later?<\/h3>\n

          Once setup is Completed, the menu shows Send Payment Update Email<\/strong> and Copy Payment Update Link<\/strong>. See updating a client’s card<\/a>.<\/p>\n

          Is this the PDF report recipient list?<\/h3>\n

          No. PDF report recipients live under Clients<\/strong>, PDF Reports<\/strong>. Billing clients are the people you charge.<\/p>\n

          Need some help?<\/h2>\n
