The new website is now built and the new domain is xyz.com. We wish to redirect example.com to xyz.com.<\/p>\n<h2>Solution<\/h2>\n<p>There are two ways to achieve this.<\/p>\n<h3>Option 1 (not recommended)<\/h3>\n<p>You can simply redirect the main domain, example.com to xyz.com with ease if you follow this knowledge base article on how to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/knowledgebase\/setup-domain-redirects\">set up a domain redirect<\/a> on Staq.<\/p>\n<p>If example.com has existing traffic and <em>link juice<\/em> (SEO term) and you follow Option 1, this will have search engine consequences. In this particular scenario, it is advised that Option 2 is followed<\/p>\n<h3>Option 2 (recommended option)<\/h3>\n<p>This option is recommended when you want to redirect the homepage, together with all subpages to the appropriate page on the new domain.<\/p>\n<p>It also ensures that\u00a0<em>link juice<\/em> or traffic is redirected from the old site to the new site.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a step-by-step process on how to achieve this.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 1<\/h4>\n<p>Go to the existing website and retrieve the sitemap. Typically, you can go to the root domain and type in\u00a0<strong>\/sitemap.xml<\/strong> and this should display the website&#8217;s sitemap.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 2<\/h4>\n<p>Go to your Staq dashboard and create a brand new website if this particular is not hosted on Staq.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, if it is hosted on Staq, go to the website&#8217;s Staq Panel.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 3<\/h4>\n<p>Inside Staq Panel for either the existing website or the newly created website, click Redirects:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3214\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/nginx-redirects-1024x597.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"597\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Step 4<\/h4>\n<p>Inside the description, download the template:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11509\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/redirect-template-1024x385.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"385\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Step 5<\/h4>\n<p>Go back to the existing website&#8217;s XML and copy and paste all URLs in Column A in Excel.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 6<\/h4>\n<p>In Column B in Excel, go to the new website and copy and paste each link to their respective page.
