Global Themes follow the same structure. When you install a plugin or theme from this repository, it is copied and installed locally on the selected website.<\/p>\n<p>With the <strong>Propagate Updates<\/strong> feature, you can easily sync that plugin across all sites where it already exists.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 1: Add or Update a Global Plugin<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4>Manual Upload<\/h4>\n<p>To manually update or upload a new version of a plugin or theme:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Navigate to <strong>Global Plugins\/Themes<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>three-dot menu<\/strong> next to the desired plugin\/theme<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>Upload New<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38094\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/upload-new-update-plugin-Global-Plugins.png\" alt=\"Upload New Plugin\" width=\"1302\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Automatic Updates<\/h4>\n<p>Enable automatic updates by toggling the <strong>Auto Update<\/strong> switch for any plugin or theme.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Premium plugins not hosted on the WordPress.org repository may not update automatically. You can either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click <strong>Download<\/strong> and save the ZIP file on your local computer; or<\/li>\n<li>Right-click <strong>Download<\/strong> and select <strong>Copy Link Address<\/strong> as per the screenshot below<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38095\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/copy-link-address-plugin-wordpress-scaled.png\" alt=\"Copy Plugin Link\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1013\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then, in the Staq dashboard, either upload the ZIP file or paste the download URL:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38096\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/paste-plugin-zip-url.png\" alt=\"Paste Plugin URL\" width=\"1220\" height=\"861\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>\ud83d\udca1 Tip:<\/strong> Use the <strong>Must-Use<\/strong> option for plugins you always want installed on all current and future websites. You can still deactivate the plugin per site from the Staq Panel \u2014 your preference will be respected.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 3: Propagate Updates<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>After uploading or updating a Global Plugin, use the <strong>Propagate Updates<\/strong> feature to sync that version across all your websites where the plugin is already installed.<\/p>\n<p>For example, updating <strong>WP Mail SMTP<\/strong> in Global Plugins and clicking <strong>Propagate Update<\/strong> will ensure all instances of that plugin across your sites are updated automatically.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38097\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Propogate-Updates-Global-Plugins.png\" alt=\"Propagate Updates\" width=\"1152\" height=\"342\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Global Configurator to update all standalone plugins<\/h2>\n<p>This is different to the Staq Global Plugins system. Visit heading, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/knowledgebase\/wordpress-automatic-plugin-updater\/\"><strong>Hands off: Automated Plugin\/Theme Updates for all sites<\/strong><\/a> to understand more.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Outcome<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;re updating an existing plugin, Staq will go ahead and update this plugin across your entire network of websites. Whether you have 10 sites or 1,000 sites, it updates across everything across your Staq account. The catch is that the management of the plugin has to be listed as\u00a0<strong>Global<\/strong>.
