An admin can give someone access to the whole account, or only to some websites. That person can be staff, a freelancer, a client, or the client’s IT company. These steps add them and set what they can do.<\/p>\n

Add a user<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. In the sidebar, click Users<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Click Add User<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Enter their details<\/h2>\n
      \n
    1. Enter Email<\/strong> and Display name<\/strong>. First name and Last name are optional.<\/li>\n
    2. Open Role<\/strong> and choose Agency Admin<\/strong>, Team Member<\/strong>, or Third Party<\/strong>. The role is a label. It does not grant access by itself.<\/li>\n
    3. Click Continue to Permissions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Set account-wide access<\/h2>\n

      Nothing is granted until you check a job, or use the header checkbox to grant every job on that tab.<\/p>\n

      1. Stay on Account-wide<\/strong> for access that applies to the whole account. That covers Websites, Plugins & Themes, DNS Zones, Clients, reports, invoices, and Account.<\/li>\n
      2. Check Create<\/strong>, Read<\/strong>, Update<\/strong>, or Delete<\/strong> on each row they should have.<\/li>\n
      3. Click Create User<\/strong>. They get an email to verify their address and set a password. Creating the user does not sign them in.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Limit them to some websites<\/h2>\n
          \n
        1. Open the Websites<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n
        2. Check Read<\/strong> to let them view that website. Check Update<\/strong> to let them change it. Check Delete<\/strong> only if they should be able to remove the website.<\/li>\n
        3. Leave a row unchecked to deny that website.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Give DNS access only<\/h2>\n

          Use this when an IT company should manage DNS and not the rest of the account. Choose Third Party<\/strong> so they only see Websites<\/strong> and DNS Zones<\/strong>. Agency Admin and Team Member use the same DNS Zones<\/strong> tab, and their screen still shows the other tabs.<\/p>\n

          1. On the details step, choose Third Party<\/strong>. Third Party only sees Websites<\/strong> and DNS Zones<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
          2. Open DNS Zones<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
          3. Check Read<\/strong> to view records. Check Update<\/strong> to add and change records. Check Delete<\/strong> only if they should be able to delete the zone.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Give access to one website<\/h2>\n
              \n
            1. Open the website, then Account<\/strong>, then Users<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
            2. Click Assign User<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
            3. To add someone who is not on the account yet, check New user?<\/strong> Enter the display name and email, and choose a role. Or leave it unchecked and pick someone who already has an account.<\/li>\n
            4. Set View<\/strong>, Update<\/strong>, or Delete<\/strong>. View lets them open the site. Update lets them change it. Delete lets them remove items on the site and delete the site.<\/li>\n
            5. Click Assign<\/strong>. A new user gets an email to verify and set a password.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              FAQ<\/h2>\n

              What do the roles mean?<\/h3>\n

              Agency Admin is for someone who runs the account. Team Member is for staff. Third Party is for a freelancer, a client, or an IT company, and that role only sees Websites and DNS Zones. The role does not grant access. You still check the jobs.<\/p>\n

              Can they see invoices?<\/h3>\n

              Yes, if you check Invoices or Account on the Account-wide tab. See Adding a non-admin user to manage invoices and payments<\/a>.<\/p>\n

              Do they sign in straight away?<\/h3>\n

              No. They get an email to verify and set a password.<\/p>\n
