Create Staging Site<\/strong> is in the environment switcher in the Staq Panel header. It is not a Files rail item. The dialog can copy the whole site, or leave parts empty.<\/p>\n

Open Create Staging Site<\/h2>\n

  1. Open the Dev or Live website in Staq Panel.<\/li>\n
  2. Open the environment switcher next to the site name.<\/li>\n
  3. Click Create Staging Site<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  4. Enter a unique Website ID.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Choose how to create it<\/h2>\n

    1. Under Clone method<\/strong>, pick Full Clone<\/strong> or Choose What to Clone<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    2. Full Clone copies the database, plugins, themes, and content.<\/li>\n
    3. Choose What to Clone lets you leave Database, Themes, Plugins, and Content empty.<\/li>\n
    4. If any part will start empty, tick the confirm checkbox.<\/li>\n
    5. Click Create Staging<\/strong>. Wait on the create page until the site is ready.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. Click Choose What to Clone<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      2. Under Leave these empty<\/strong>, turn on Database, Themes, Plugins, and Content.<\/li>\n
      3. Those four start on. Leave them on for a blank site.<\/li>\n
      4. Tick I understand database, themes, plugins, and content will start empty<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      5. Click Create Staging<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Can I create a blank staging site?<\/h3>\n

        Yes. Use Choose What to Clone<\/strong>. Leave Database, Themes, Plugins, and Content empty. That is still a staging website from this site. It is not a new website from the create-site flow.<\/p>\n

        Where is the new site?<\/h3>\n

        Staq opens the create page for that staging website. Open it from Websites when that page says it is ready.<\/p>\n

        Can I sync back later?<\/h3>\n

        Yes. On the staging website, use Sync Staging<\/strong>. See how to sync staging<\/a>.<\/p>\n
