HELP!<\/p>\n<h2>Answer<\/h2>\n<p>There are many reasons why a website is down or is perceived to be down. These are some examples:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Someone has changed the DNS entries or changed the NS records<\/li>\n<li>The domain name has expired<\/li>\n<li>The NS records have changed away from Staq when Staq Next-Gen CDN is enabled, then the NS records change elsewhere but are then brought back to Staq (in this case, you have to delete Staq Next-Gen CDN and then re-enable it)<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re using Cloudflare as the DNS, make sure the proxy\/alias feature is disabled unless you apply the Staq-Cloudflare integration for you to enable proxy. See below.<\/li>\n<li>ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS (displayed in the browser)<\/li>\n<li>503 Server Error (perceived to be down but Staq Firewall has blocked your IP address or someone&#8217;s IP address)<\/li>\n<li>Plugin\/Theme issue<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>DNS\/NS change<\/h3>\n<p>To confirm a DNS change, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/mxtoolbox.com\/SuperTool.aspx\">MX Toolbox<\/a>, select DNS Lookup,\u00a0and enter the domain name. Is the A record correct?<\/p>\n<p>To confirm an NS record change, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/mxtoolbox.com\/SuperTool.aspx\">MX Toolbox and select DNS Check<\/a>. Does the NS record still point to Staq (AWS records) or to your expected NS records?<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Expired Domain Name<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you had checked the DNS records first and no records appeared, the domain name may have expired.<\/p>\n<p>To confirm if a domain name has expired, see the appropriate service to check the status of the domain name:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Australian domain name check &#8211; https:\/\/whois.auda.org.au\/<\/li>\n<li>.com, .net and others &#8211; https:\/\/whois.godaddy.com\/<\/li>\n<li>If the above two do not assist, Google <strong>whois domain name &lt;domain ccTLD&gt; <\/strong>i.e. whois domain name .co.il<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From there, you can assess to see if the domain name is valid or has expired.<\/p>\n<h3>Cloudflare Proxy<\/h3>\n<p>Staq supports Cloudflare proxy, including seamless SSL generation and auto-renewal AS LONG AS you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/knowledgebase\/integrating-cloudflare-with-staq\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">integrate the Cloudflare API<\/a> into Staq.<\/p>\n<p>Failure to do so, if you&#8217;re using Cloudflare as the DNS service, in order for the SSL certificate to generate or renew, you&#8217;ll have to ensure that your records i.e. the non-www and www records have the <strong>proxy status<\/strong> disabled:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-34341\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cloudflare-disable-proxy.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cloudflare-disable-proxy.png 1018w, https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cloudflare-disable-proxy-300x116.png 300w, https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cloudflare-disable-proxy-768x296.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you need the DNS to be proxied, you can follow this guide on how to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/knowledgebase\/how-to-use-cloudflare-proxy-with-a-staq-hosted-site\/\">proxy the A records on Cloudflare<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS<\/h3>\n<p>In Chrome, you may see this error <strong>ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Safari, you may see\u00a0<strong>Too many redirects occurred trying to open &#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To fix the too many redirects issue, below are some scenarios that you can investigate in order to remedy the issue.<\/p>\n<p>This can be caused from:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>adding a sequence of 301 redirects i.e. \/old-page &#8212;&gt; new-page, then redirecting new-page &#8212;&gt;different-page<\/li>\n<li>plugin\/theme goes into an infinite loop<\/li>\n<li>AAAA records in the DNS exist.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you&#8217;re using a redirect plugin but cannot access the WordPress backend, follow this guide on how to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/knowledgebase\/force-deactivation-of-plugin-theme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">force the deactivation of a theme\/plugin<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve followed the guide to set up<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpstaq.com\/knowledgebase\/server-redirects\/\">\u00a0server 301 redirects<\/a> inside Staq Panel, then you can delete the record that you&#8217;ve recently created.<\/p>\n<p>If none of the above apply, go to a tool like <a href=\"https:\/\/mxtoolbox.com\/SuperTool.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MX Tool Box<\/a> and select the AAAA option and enter your domain. If AAA records appear, then have them removed\/deleted. This will fix the ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS issue.<\/p>\n<h3>503 Error<\/h3>\n<p>A 503 error relates to being blocked by the Staq Firewall. This issue often manifests as different server errors depending on the setup:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Nginx<\/strong>: Errors such as <strong>502 Bad Gateway<\/strong> or <strong>504 Gateway Timeout<\/strong> appear when the server cannot process additional PHP requests due to all workers being in use.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cloudflare<\/strong>: Errors like <strong>520 Web Server Returned an Unknown Error<\/strong>, <strong>521 Web Server Is Down<\/strong>, or <strong>524 A Timeout Occurred<\/strong> may occur, indicating that the origin server is unresponsive or taking too long to process requests.<\/li>\n<li><strong>CloudFront<\/strong>: Errors such as <strong>503 Service Unavailable<\/strong> or <strong>504 Gateway Timeout<\/strong> indicate that the origin server (Nginx) is not responding promptly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To diagnose and resolve this, you can assess your PHP Worker usage via the <strong>Staq Panel<\/strong> for the site.
