agency Success Story

Staq gives you peace of mind

It was quite funny how we started to use Staq.

Our agency was launching AWS Lightsail services and for each website we built, we created a separate account as we didn’t want to manage the billing side of things.

Initially, one of our clients recommended us to Staq and said something about AWS and better management. I then requested a product demo and Emmanuel had migrated my agency site across as a staging link on Staq and then showed us the platform at the same time.

I didn’t take the website live as I wanted to understand the system more on my own time but time escaped and I didn’t do anything straight away.

A few months later, someone in our team had accidentally deleted our site from our AWS account.

After frantically trying to find a backup that we had somewhere, I remembered that there was a migrated test site on our Staq account that I had never taken live. With ease, I took our site live on Staq.

After experiencing this, Staq gives us peace of mind.

What made you move to Staq?

There were many reasons why we moved to Staq. Our initial reason for moving to Staq was related to needing to retrieve my old website since it was accidentally deleted in my previous hosting environment.

However, as our agency was growing, signing in and out of our AWS account became frustrating and annoying. So we required a centralised solution.

Also, Amazon requires you to set up snapshots for backup services which is an additional cost.

And after going through that experience explained in the story above, having a robust backup system was key for me to move to Staq. In my demo call with Emmanuel, I remember asking the question about where backups were stored and I remember Emmanuel saying that it was stored outside of the server into S3 buckets on Amazon.

What was the challenge and frustrations you went through internally inside the business?

We continue to grow as an agency but the thing we struggled with was managing our client websites.

With backup plugin services for WordPress, we found that managing backups that ultimately store the backup file on the same server to be challenging. We found that backup token IDs between the plugin and the site broke, meaning sites weren’t backing up. It was becoming too hard to manage backups using plugins.

We never knew it was a problem after using Staq but as I think about it now, using multiple plugins to speed up a website was taking too long and was inconsistent. Staq out of the box is super fast and their internal tool on how they optimise for Core Web Vitals has been amazing for us.
