Pay As You Go plans

How does the 90 days free hosting work?

This applies to Pay As You Go plans only.

Every site you create or migrate is free for up to 90 days in development mode. You only pay when the site goes live or after 90 days—whichever comes first.

This setup encourages cloud-based development with free automated backups and full use of our staging environment.

If you're trying Staq for the first time, it's a great chance to test the platform.

How much resources are allocated to each Pay As You Go site?

How much CPU, RAM and PHP Workers are applied to a PAYG site plan?

Traditional hosting is fixated on CPU and RAM for performance. We're cloud based WordPress hosting that can scale.

Resources

Each site benefits from the following resources:

Server: A baseline of 4 vCPUs, burstable as needed, 16 GB of RAM, and access to an elastic file system (EBS) for additional memory if needed beyond 16 GB memory.
Database: A baseline of 4 vCPUs and 16 GB RAM via our MariaDB RDS instances.
Storage: A baseline of 3,000 IOPS using GP3 SSDs via AWS EBS.

Base Plan

Each site is assigned with:

Pooled AWS services beyond server resources
10 PHP Workers (scalable with a click of a button)

While a WordPress site check may show a baseline of 256MB of memory, in reality, each site taps into a vast pool of resources across AWS services such as EBS, RDS, S3, CloudFront, and Cloudflare. This means the true capacity extends far beyond what’s displayed, with resources automatically scaling as needed to meet demand.

Prior to sites being migrated to Staq, we found that sites that once used 512MB memory will suffice with only 256MB memory on Staq, given how disburse the resources are pooling from.

Take, for instance, a robust WooCommerce site we migrated to Staq. Originally, it was on a dedicated server, utilizing 6 CPUs and 10GB of memory, and yet it was hitting 100% of its resource limits. Once transitioned to Staq, the site now operates smoothly with only 2 vCPUs and 512MB of memory; a testament to the efficacy of our decoupled system and the optimization capabilities inherent in our AWS-backed architecture.

What are the overage costs?

This applies to Pay As You Go plans.

If a site exceeds its resource allocation, the following costs will apply:

$0.50 USD per 1,000 after exceeding 25,000 unique visitors
$0.50 USD per 1GB after exceeding 10GB of storage
$0.50 USD per 1GB after exceeding 25GB bandwidth
$3.00 USD per 1GB after exceeding 1GB database
$0.15 USD per hour after exceeding 30 hours of CPU time

PHP Workers and Memory

If you need to increase memory or PHP Workers, they both go hand-in-hand. The following costs are as follows:

15 PHP Workers allows you to increase the memory to 512MB = $25 USD on top of base price
20 PHP Workers allows you to increase the memory to 1GB = $62.50 USD on top of base price.

Can I use a combination of Pay As You Go and Bundle plans?

Bundle plans work like the infrastructure behind Pay As You Go, except it's in your own private Virtual Private Network.

We created this plan to suit existing agencies that manage and control a significant amounts of websites and the Pay As You Go model doesn't work based on price predictability since they charge the same hosting fee to a small or busy website.

Resources are allocated according to your Bundle plan.

Pay As You Go plans may provide you with more resources.

How much CPU, RAM and PHP Workers are applied?

Bundle Pricing takes a fundamentally different approach to resource allocation compared to traditional hosting. Instead of limiting your sites to fixed CPU and RAM quotas, we leverage AWS's elastic infrastructure to provide dynamic scaling and resource pooling.

Server Infrastructure

Each Bundle Plan includes:

Server Resources: Your sites run on robust servers with baseline vCPUs that automatically burst using AWS credits when traffic spikes occur. Our elastic file system (AWS EBS) provides additional memory beyond the server's base allocation whenever needed, with intelligent load distribution to ensure reliability.

Database Power: All sites are backed by MariaDB on AWS RDS instances, delivering scalable database performance that grows with your needs.

High-Performance Storage: We use AWS EBS with GP3 SSDs providing a baseline of 3,000 IOPS. Unlike traditional hosting where storage lives inside the server, our SSD storage is attached externally for better performance and reliability.

Per-Site Resources

Each migrated site receives:

10 PHP Workers (instantly scalable with one click)
Access to pooled AWS services that extend far beyond individual server limitations

Why Resource Monitoring Looks Different

While WordPress health checks might display 256MB of memory per site, this number doesn't reflect your true capacity. Each site taps into a distributed pool of AWS resources including EBS, RDS, S3, CloudFront, and Cloudflare services.

Real-world performance: Sites that previously required 512MB of memory on traditional hosting typically perform optimally with just 256MB on Staq due to our distributed resource architecture and intelligent caching layers.

The result? Your sites get the resources they need, when they need them, without the artificial constraints of traditional hosting plans.

What are the overage costs?

Is Staq scalable?

The short answer is yes.

Our CPUs are burstable using the AWS network.

If you enable Staq Next-Gen CDN, a static WordPress site can deliver all its assets, including its HTML and be served via AWS CloudFront as a scalable way.

You can enable Redis Object Caching which gives you more power for less.

However, even though our CPUs are burstable, if you require High Available WordPress hosting, you'll need to contact us so we can customize a solution for your needs. We can even offer Redis Caching and Load Balancers on the AWS network. Please contact us for High Available WordPress Hosting.

How does your staging environment work and how much it costs?

Performance

For 97% of sites, the staging site matches the same resources of the production website. See above section "How many CPUs, RAM and PHP Workers are applied?".

Cost

Per production site, your first staging site is free by default.

If you need to increase memory, PHP workers, and etc, additional charges apply.

We calculate your storage as a sum calculation taking into account storage used for both your production and staging and you may incur additional storage costs.

If you require more than 1 staging site, it will be charged at an additional discounted rate of $6 USD per staging site after the first free staging site.

How it works

Create an unlimited number of staging sites (subject to additional costs) for your production environment with ease. When it's time to go live, a seamless sync to production is just a few clicks away.

Our staging environment is designed with flexibility in mind, categorizing your data into four distinct sections:

This modular approach allows you to selectively synchronize specific components or update everything simultaneously.

Furthermore, our advanced database synchronization options empower you to exclude particular tables, safeguarding your live site's dynamic data like contact form entries and WooCommerce transactions from being overwritten.

No. Staq is built on a cloud-first architecture using Amazon Web Services (AWS). While multiple sites may run on the same EC2 instances, core services like databases (RDS) and storage (EBS) are decoupled and independently managed, ensuring reliability, performance, and security at scale.

Our infrastructure is designed for scalability and high availability, with sites deployed inside Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs). Resources are pooled intelligently across AWS services, giving you the flexibility to scale and handle traffic bursts without limits—thanks to our use of unthrottled burst capacity on servers.

This is a modern cloud architecture—not traditional shared hosting.
