The Issue
A request from a device has to pass through many checkpoints on its way to the server. If any of these checkpoints is too busy or overloaded, the request may be cancelled or dropped. For example, a request to load a website may time out when connecting through a home network because the router is too overloaded with requests from other computers and devices on the network.
