The Staq Firewall is a powerful tool provided within your WordPress site that enables comprehensive insight into every request made to the server. It helps identify potential security threats, understand user behavior, and analyze server responses.

    Accessing the Staq Firewall

    To access the Staq Firewall:

    1. Navigate to your WordPress site’s dashboard.
    2. On the left-hand side, click on Staq Hosting > Firewall:

    Exploring the Access Log

Inside the Staq Firewall, click ‘Firewall’, then ‘Access Log’. The Access Log records every single request made to the server, providing key information including:

    • Request time
    • Geographical region
    • IP address
    • Page URL
    • Status (server)
    • Request duration
    • Process ID
    • CPU usage

This granular level of detail allows for in-depth analysis of all the interactions happening on your server.

If you’re investigating if a process is blocked, you can see the request, find the IP address and see the Status. If the Status shows something like a 503, then that process is being blocked.

Understanding IP Addresses and User Behavior

By clicking on a specific IP address in the Access Log, the Staq Firewall groups all requests made from that IP. It displays the pages visited, providing insight into the behavior of the user associated with that IP. This can be especially helpful when investigating potential DDoS attacks or simply studying a particular user’s site usage.

    Analyzing Server Responses

The ‘Server Status‘ column within the Access Log is invaluable for diagnosing server issues. When a user reports a server error like a 500, 502, 503, or 504, the ‘Server Status’ can validate the report, providing concrete data for your investigation.

Understanding these server responses helps in pinpointing issues, leading to quicker resolutions and more efficient management of your server.

By utilizing the Staq Firewall and its Access Log, you can take full advantage of the robust analysis tools at your disposal. This allows you to maintain the security and performance of your WordPress site, understand your users better, and swiftly respond to server issues.
