SendGrid Integration

Connect SendGrid when WordPress mail should go out through SendGrid. You connect the account once, then authenticate each website domain.

Add the account

1. Go to Global Settings.
2. Open Integrations, then SendGrid.
3. Click Connect Account.

Create the API key in SendGrid

1. Log in to your SendGrid account.
2. Go to Settings, then API Keys.
3. Click Create API Key.

Choose Full Access

1. Set the API Key Name.
2. Select Full Access. Restricted keys cannot authenticate domains.
3. Click Create & View.

Copy the key

Copy the API key. You can view it only once. Close the screen and it is gone.

Paste the key in Staq

1. Return to the Connect SendGrid account dialog.
2. Paste the API key into API key.
3. Click Connect Account.

Check the connected account

The account row shows how many sending domains are verified and how many are still pending.

Use it on a website

1. Open the website, then Domains, then SMTP.
2. Choose SendGrid.
3. If the domain is not verified yet, click Add Domain.
4. Click Reveal DNS Records to see the CNAME records. Click Verify DNS Records to confirm them.
5. Set the From email prefix and From name, then save.

If this website uses Staq DNS, or the Cloudflare integration in Staq, Staq inserts the SendGrid CNAME records for you. If the DNS is somewhere else, copy each host and value into that DNS, wait about a minute, then click Verify DNS Records.

FAQ

Employees cannot add an account

Integrations need the Integrations grant. Website SMTP still uses an account that is already connected.

Does the From email need to exist?

No. SendGrid authenticates the domain. The From email is what contacts see after a form send. It does not have to be a working mailbox.

How do I lock the API key to known IPs?

Enable IP Access Management from the SendGrid row menu in Staq.
