How to create a staging site

On this page

Creating a staging site on Staq is a straightforward process that allows you to test changes without affecting your live website. This guide will walk you through the steps to set up and manage a staging environment.

    Creating a Staging Site

    Access the Staq Panel

Log into the Staq Panel for the site you want to create a staging environment for.

    Initiate Staging Site Creation

Click on the Create Staging Site button located under the green Live Environment button and then a popup will open. Click Create.

    Staging Site Creation

If you leave as is, click Create and it’ll duplicate your production site into a new staging environment.

    Blank Staging Site

But, what if you want to create a blank staging site without cloning the production data across? You can!

Under Exclude Data Duplicate, select the data that you do not want to partially copy or fully copy across. If you want a complete brand new site, simply select to exclude Plugins, Themes, Database and Content. It will then install a fresh copy of WordPress. You may want a fresh database but you want to retain the plugins and themes. In that case, you would select to exclude Database and Content so that it’ll copy the plugins and themes across to the new staging site.

    Detailed time log of process

If you wish to see the time log and what the process is doing, inside the staging environment, click on Backups and then Restore History (top right). Then, you’ll see the time log and process:
