How to edit the wp-config.php file on Staq

On this page

    Question

I want to amend the wp-config.php file but cannot do this via sFTP. How can I do this?

    Solution

Amending the wp-config.php file is easy on Staq but isn’t done conventionally. The reason why we have locked down this process is purely down to security.

From a user experience perspective, it is much easier to do on Staq compared to the conventional way.

In Staq, you can add a PHP constant inside the wp-config.php on an individual website level or apply it globally to all your sites including all existing and future websites.

    Individual Website

    Step 1

Go to the Staq Panel of the website in question.

    Step 2

    Click WP Config File:

    Step 3

Click Add and in the light-box, add the name and value as per the screenshot below.

As you add the name and value, the preview section will automatically populate.

    Click Add, followed by Save

    Apply Globally

    Step 1

In the main navigation section, click Global Settings:

    Step 2

    Click Manage under WP Config:

    Step 3

Go above to Individual Website and follow step 3 as it is the same process.

Please note that by doing this, the PHP constant will be applied to all existing and future websites under each wp-config.php file
