Troubleshooting FTP Access Issues

On this page

    Introduction:

From time to time, you may encounter issues when trying to connect to your site’s FTP via a file manager solution or a third-party solution trying to send an XML feed via sFTP to your site.

Don’t worry – most of these issues can be resolved quickly. Below are the steps to retrieve your FTP connection details, which should help you regain access:

    Generate New Password for sFTP:

    • Log in to the Staq Panel of the site in question via the Staq dashboard.

    • Click on ‘Secure FTP‘.
    • Click ‘Retrieve Connection Details‘.
    • Click on ‘Generate New Password‘.

You may have an old password or the password was regenerated by someone else or by our system. From time-to-time, our system may reset the password for security purposes.

    Correct Port Number

Also, another issue why users may not access FTP is due to selecting the wrong setting inside the file manager program like File Zilla.

Please ensure you select SFTP – SSH File Transfer Protocol and enter the correct Port Number (accessible via Staq)
