Managing Overage Costs and Alerts on Staq

On this page

Staq provides robust tools and alerts to help you stay in control of your subscription usage, avoid unexpected overage costs, and ensure transparency in resource management. This guide explains how to use these features effectively.

    Resource Usage Trends

The Resource Usage Trends section in the Staq Dashboard offers a quick overview of sites nearing or exceeding their plan limits. Here’s how it works:

    • A maximum of five sites are displayed at a time, highlighting resource consumption trends.
    • The displayed sites rotate with each refresh of the Staq Dashboard, ensuring comprehensive visibility over time.

    Generating Reports for High Usage

To view detailed reports on sites approaching their plan limits:

    1. Log into your Staq account.
    2. Navigate to Reports > Subscriptions High Usage.
    3. Generate a report to identify sites with high resource usage and potential overage costs.

    Email Alerts for High Usage

Staq automatically sends high-usage email alerts every three days to help you stay ahead of potential overage costs. Here’s what you need to know:

    • The email subject line is “Attention: High Usage Alert for Your Subscriptions”.
    • By default, this email is sent to the Staq Super Admin account.
    • The data in these email alerts mirrors the information available in Reports > Subscriptions High Usage.

    Adding Additional Recipients to Alerts

To send high-usage alerts to additional recipients:

    1. Go to Reports > Subscriptions High Usage.
    2. Click the Email Alerts button in the top-right corner.
    3. In the popup, add the email addresses of the desired recipients. Ensure multiple email addresses are separated by a comma.

    Oncharging Clients for Overage/Excess Charges

As the name suggests, you can use Staq Billing to automatically charge clients for any overage or excess usage. By setting up the necessary configurations and parameters, Staq Billing dynamically calculates site usage during the billing period and automatically applies overage charges to clients. This allows Staq Agency partners to not only recover costs but also generate a profit.
